Some scientists claim Spinosaurus to be the largest flesh-eating animal ever, even larger than the famous T-rex. It is estimated that Spinosaurus could reach 17 metres in length (56ft) and 9 tonnes in weight
The unusual spines were extensions of the spinal column and usually grew up to 2 metres (6.6 ft) long.
