Proof Positive – Birds are Dinosaurs

Published: 26th Sep 2014

New discoveries of avian dinosaurs in China made by the ‘Indiana Jones’ of palaeontology, Xu Xing, and extensive research have finally proved that birds are definitely descended from dinosaurs. After studying 850 body features from 150 different extinct species scientists have developed a detailed family tree of the evolution of birds from a group of carnivorous dinosaurs. The classic bird skeleton evolved gradually over tens of millions of years. However once established there was an explosion of evolution of birds.

There are striking physical similarities between carniverous dinosaurs and birds. Particularly the three-toed foot, light hollow bones, and wishbone, as well as behaviourial aspects such as laying eggs, forming nests and caring for young.

Xu Xing has made a number of discoveries of avian dinosaurs since the 1990s which have filled the the evolutionary gap between dinosaurs, archaeopteryx and birds.
